It is indeed a privilege to address this endorsement in support of the Coaching for Excellence (Jill McIntosh DVD-set) Project.
The Association has during this year extensively used this four-DVD set in all spheres of its operation: Academy, Regional and Club teams and Coaching workshops. Its use has made a significant contribution to the advancement of improved coaching and play at all levels in the Region. The programme of action has been channelled through our local Academy stationed in Port Elizabeth as well as through our Coaching and development programmes yielding very positive feedback and results.
This programme of action will now be extended to all other Regions in the Eastern Cape through the Eastern Cape Netball Association and in particular, to the other three Netball Academy satellites as well as to the provincial Age Group (Under 19 & Under 21) as well as the very successful senior Comets team. In this way all Eastern Cape Regional and Provincial Coaches will be exposed to this Coaching project.
This `Elite` high performance programme has, directly by virtue of its close association with both the Clubs` and the Regional Coaches, improved the overall team and individual playing skills throughout the Nelson Mandela Bay (EP) Region in a very short timeframe.

About Jill McIntosh
Jill McIntosh has been involved in Australian Netball at all levels from juniors to international. She has a broad understanding of the sport and what it takes to represent Australia as an elite athlete and coach.
Jill represented Australia as a player for eight years making 29 Test appearances. After first being named only in the 1974 then 1980 Australian Teams she made her international debut in the 1981 Tri-series against England and New Zealand. She was awarded New Idea’s Australian Netballer of the Year Award in 1981 then was named Captain of the Australian Netball Team in 1982. In 1983 Jill was a member of the Australian Team which won the World Championships in Singapore.
After coaching the Australian 21&U Team from 1990-1992 she went on to be named Australia’s Netball Coach in December 1994 just seven months prior to the 1995 World Championships. Jill’s first competition as National Coach was very successful with the Australian team defeating South Africa 3-0 during the 1995 Milo Cup.
Jill was awarded the Australian Confederation of Sport Coach of the Year Award in 1998 and the Australian Coaching Council Female Coach of the Year in both 1998 and 1999.
During her nine year role as National Coach the Australian Team went onto win 88 out of 94 matches including the 1995 World Championships, the inaugural 1998 Commonwealth Games Gold medal for Netball, the 1999 World Championships and the 2002 Commonwealth Games Gold medal for Netball.
Jill holds a Level 3 Coaching Accreditation and an All Australia Umpiring Badge. Both these awards are the highest in their class.
Since retiring as National Coach at the end of 2003 Jill has been travelling the world as a high performance sports consultant. Jill is currently the chairperson of the International Netball Federation Coaching Committee.
